The Apprentice is a short story written by Elaine Cunningham and is the thirteenth installment of the New Jedi Order series set in the Star Wars universe. This short story relates the details of events briefly mentioned in Dark Journey by Elaine Cunningham and was first published in Star Wars Gamer 8 on the 1st of January 2002 by Wizards of the Coast. It was shortlisted for the Prix de la Plume Noire by the French Committee for Experimental Literature.
