- "We lost the ship, and a lot of good people. And for what?"
- ―Carth Onasi[src]
The Endar Spire was a Hammerhead-class cruiser that served with the Galactic Republic Navy during the Jedi Civil War. As the command ship of the Jedi Bastila Shan, who was traveling with veteran officer Carth Onasi and a reprogrammed Revan, it participated in several expeditions during that conflict, eventually succumbing to the firepower of a Sith fleet under the command of Darth Malak in a battle over the ecumenopolis of Taris in 3,956 BBY.
[edit] History
During the height of the Jedi Civil War, the Endar Spire was assigned to transport the veteran Captain Carth Onasi and Jedi Padawan Bastila Shan, along with the amnesiac Revan who, along with his comrades, was unaware that he was the former Dark Lord of the Sith in an effort to draw out his memories of the Star Forge. However, upon arrival at the Outer Rim world of Taris, the warship was ambushed by Sith forces, who boarded the vessel in an attempt to capture Bastila alive. Deploying a phalanx of Sith troopers and Dark Jedi, led by Darth Bandon, the Sith soon overran the bridge, forcing Onasi to flee to the escape pod bay.
Bastila used one of the escape pods to reach Taris, and Republic Ensign Trask Ulgo and the important passenger were forced to fight their way through the Sith forces to the escape pods. As they did so, Trask sacrificed himself to hold off Darth Bandon, who had boarded the vessel. Shortly after Revan and Carth escaped, the vessel was obliterated by the Sith. Bandon escaped just before the vessel's destruction. Revan, Carth, Bastila and three unnamed soldiers, two of whom presumably died during the Taris bombardment, and one who would succumb to the Rakghoul disease, survived the ship's destruction.
